TownSquare respects the intellectual property rights of others and expects our users to do the same. In accordance with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), we will respond to valid notices of copyright infringement and may remove or disable access to material claimed to be infringing.
Filing a DMCA Takedown Notice
If you believe that your copyrighted work has been posted on TownSquare without authorization, you may submit a DMCA takedown notice. To be valid, your notice must include:
- Identification of the copyrighted work: A description of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed
- Identification of the infringing material: The URL or specific location of the material on TownSquare
- Your contact information: Name, address, telephone number, and email address
- Statement of good faith belief: A statement that you have a good faith belief that use of the material is not authorized by the copyright owner
- Statement of accuracy: A statement that the information in your notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner
- Physical or electronic signature: Your physical or electronic signature

What Happens After We Receive Your Notice
Upon receiving a valid DMCA notice, we will:
- Review the notice to ensure it meets DMCA requirements
- Remove or disable access to the allegedly infringing content
- Notify the user who posted the content about the removal
- Document the takedown in our records
Counter-Notification Process
If you believe your content was wrongly removed due to a DMCA claim, you may file a counter-notification. Your counter-notification must include:
- Your physical or electronic signature
- Identification of the material that was removed and its location before removal
- A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good faith belief the material was removed by mistake or misidentification
- Your name, address, and phone number
- A statement consenting to jurisdiction of the federal court in your district
- A statement that you will accept service of process from the person who filed the original DMCA notice

Repeat Infringer Policy
TownSquare maintains a policy of terminating accounts of users who are repeat copyright infringers. If a user receives multiple valid DMCA notices, their account may be permanently suspended.
Fair Use Consideration
Before filing a DMCA notice, please consider whether the use of copyrighted material qualifies as fair use under copyright law. Fair use includes commentary, criticism, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research. Not all uses of copyrighted material constitute infringement.
Misrepresentation Warning
Warning: Under Section 512(f) of the DMCA, any person who knowingly materially misrepresents that material is infringing may be subject to liability for damages. Do not make false claims.
